For the third consecutive year, Gathering Thunder Foundation is a session sponsor for the 2011 Lakota Dakota Nakota Language Summit "Uniting the Seven Council Fires to Save the Language" held in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Tusweca (two-swe-cha) Tiospaye (tee-o-shpa-yea) is a Native 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, home of the Oglala Lakota Oyate, that is dedicated to promoting and strengthening the Lakota language.
Their mission is to develop a strong, healthy and prosperous environment in which Lakota children and their families can learn and incorporate the Lakota language into their daily lives.

Davian Stands - First Youth Ambassador:
Gathering Thunder Foundation sponsors Davian Stands, the first Youth Ambassador to the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers.
Davian is the great-granddaughter of Grandmothers Beatrice Long-Visitor Holy Dance and Rita Long-Visitor Holy Dance, and is a direct descendant of Chief Dull Knife of the Lakota Nation. Barbara Dull Knife, former Oglala District Representative, is Davian's Grandmother.
In addition to Davian's travels with the Grandmothers, she lectures throughout out the school year about the importance of preventing youth suicide and serves as a mentor by maintaining an A average in school.

It is estimated that 90% of child deaths on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is due to the lack of infant car or child booster seats. The Gathering Thunder Foundation aims to stem this high death rate by delivering new or highly rated seats to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Electric & Propane:
Support families in need by keeping electricity turned on and heat in homes. 100% of your donation goes directly to utility companies on behalf of elderlies or families with children. We also work with One Spirit to supply cut firewood wood for winter heating, providing work for local families who cut and deliver the wood.
Semi-Annual Give Away:
Members and supporters collect food, clothing, household and school supplies throughout the year for our semi-annual give-away and celebration, aiding families who live on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
